Description

The Orchid Mantis ( Hymenopus coronatus ) is one of the most beautiful and iconic mantis species in the hobby, famed for its remarkable mimicry of orchid petals. With soft pink and white colouration, petal-like limbs, and graceful movements, this species is often considered the crown jewel of mantid keeping.

Sold here as L3+ nymphs, they are well-established and feeding reliably on small livefoods such as fruit flies and tiny roaches. They thrive in tall, well-ventilated enclosures with plenty of vertical space, twigs, and light foliage for climbing and camouflage. Humidity should be maintained with regular misting, but balanced with good airflow to prevent mould.

The Orchid Mantis is a moderately challenging species, best suited for keepers with some prior experience, but it rewards careful husbandry with one of the most spectacular displays of natural camouflage in the invertebrate world.
